I love stuff like these clips below. If anyone out there has on videotape the news editorial on Seattle's Channel 7 by Lou Guzzo railing against Seattle's punk rock scene (immortalized in The Dehumanizers' song "Kill Lou Guzzo") you gotta get that on YouTube. Meanwhile, here is a three part news story on the Boise, Idaho punk scene circ 1985. Check out a young Mark Hanford! Ex-Haggis, writer for MRR, and long time 10 Things writer:
added Ten Things to my links- glad to see the torch has not been extinguished!
i forwarded a link to Boing Boing, so expect a lot more hits today!
take it easy but take it!
Aaagggh... you recognized me. That's my ramp, too...
Awesome! Totally not something to be embarrassed about. Thankfully no one caught me on video in 1985, I would have had guyliner on and teased out hair.
I showed this to my daughter this morning so she can see what her mom was up to back in 1985 at Meridian High. People in the big cities love this footage because of the contrast between small hick town conservative and "alternative".
Hooray for Mark who carried the torch on Mutant Pop. Radio was and is a sharing that anchors community.
True there is not as much isolation now. So there isn't a natural oppressive force to bind creative people together.
